PASA Announces the 2016 Claro Open Pan American Surfing Games in Peru

The Pan American Surfing Association (PASA) is proud to announce the 2016 Claro Open Pan American Surfing Games, in Lima, Peru, from October 10 to 16, 2016.

The waves of Punta Roquitas, in Miraflores, will be hosting the meeting of all the nations of the American continent, to decide the qualifying process to the Lima 2019 Pan American Games.

PASA President, Karin Sierralta, said “This is the opportunity for all the member nations to approve how the qualifying process for Lima 2019, in an historic assembly for our sport”.

The 2016 Pan American Surfing Games organizing committee is giving free lodging and meals (breakfast and dinner) for all the participants, all registration to the event must be done through the National Federation of each athlete. Space is limited.

Also, the Claro Open Pan American Surfing Games will be sponsored by the Latin American Professional Surfers Association (ALAS), who will be giving cash prize of 10.000 dollars and points of a 2-Star Prime event, valid for the ALAS Latin Tour Championship ranking.

  • Open Surfing (Men and Women)
  • Longboard (Men and Women)
  • SUP Surf (Men and Women)
  • Bodyboard prone (Men and Women)
  • Bodyboard Dropknee
  • SUP Race (Men and Women)
  • Prone Paddleboard Race (Men and Women)

Qualifying process to Lima 2019

Lima 2019, the biggest multi sport event in the Americas, will be the first big test for surfing, before being part of Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

The Pan American Sports Organization (PASO) and the organizing committee of Lima 2019 will be giving a limited amount of space for competing athletes in the different Surfing categories, so a qualifying system must be created to fill these places.
