UPDATED: Pan American Surfing Games Return to Peru

  • UPDATE: Competition now will be held in the legendary waves of Punta Rocas
  • PASA continues working towards Lima 2019 Pan American Games and Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games

  • This edition of the event will be open to National Surfing Teams only

The Pan American Surf Association (PASA) announces that the XIII Pan American Surfing Games: 2017 Pan American Claro Games, presented by Herbalife, will take place December 5-9, 2017.

In search of better waves, the organization has moved the event to the legendary Punta Rocas, in the Punta Negra District, 45 mins south of Lima, Perú. This new event site will welcome the National Teams of the Americas, competing for a chance to rise to the top of the podium.
Also, Punta Rocas will host the Surfing disciplines of Lima 2019 Pan American Games, giving the opportunity to all future competitors to know and adapt to this iconic wave.

PASA President, Karin Sierralta, said,

This is a new invitation to all the nations of the Americas to join efforts and prepare ourselves to the ultimate goal of giving the best representation of our continent during the debut of surfing in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.”

For this new edition of the 2017 Pan American Claro Games, presented by Herbalife, the competition will have its original format, where only National Surfing Teams of PASA member federations will be able to compete.”

“This will be a pre qualifying event for Lima 2019, where participating teams can get better ranking positions for the heats during the qualifying event in 2018″.

PASA once again thanks telecommunications company Claro and the nutritional supplements Herbalife for their continued support to our sport.”

The event organization committee is offering lodging, complete meals and transport for up to 23 team members (20 athletes, 3 technical staff) for each participating team. Teams must confirm their participation no later than July 1st to secure their place (10 teams max.). These benefits will be given on a first come, first served basis.
