- Lena Guimarães from Brazil and Connor Baxter from the United States win Gold in the women’s and Men’s SUP Races.
- A historic day for the sup races was lived today during the fifth day of the surfing and sup competition at the pan American games Lima 2019.
First thing in the morning the women’s sup race was held where the Brazilian Lena Guimarães got the gold medal after an intense race final.
In second position and with the silver medal, Candice Appleby of the United States ended and in third position, getting the bronze, finished Maricarmen Rivera of Puerto Rico.
In the men’s sup race, Connor Baxter of the United States won gold, followed by Vinicius Martins of Brazil with silver and Itzel Delgado with bronze.
The event continues on its way to the finals on Sunday, when the rest of the Medals will be awarded.

In Men’s Longboard, Julian Schweizer of Uruguay was the best of the day with a total score of 15.1 in his heat against the Chilean Rafael Cortez (7.03). Longboard women was Maria Fernanda Reyes of Peru the leader with a total of 13.97 Points against 10.86 of Tiaré Thompson from the United States.
In Shortboard Men, Santiago Muñiz got the best score of the day of 14.16, against Anthony Fillingim of Costa Rica (10.3). In Women, the PASA Pan American champion ornella pellizzari defeated with 12.90 points the local Melanie Giunta from Peru (1.57).
The day closed with the third round of the main event of SUP Surf
Giorgio Gomez from Colombia scored 16.07 points against 10.7 of Finn Spencer from Canada. Nicole Pacelli from Brazil was the best in women’s division with 13 points against 10.9 of Colombian Isabella Gomez.
Both Spencer and Gomez, as well as the other athletes who lost in this round, have one more chance to get to the final for gold through the rounds of repechage.
