Chile’s Moises Silva is the 2024 Pan American Bodyboard Champion

Brazilians Socrates Santana and Diego Gomes take silver and bronze, Panama’s Edwin Nuñez copper

During the fourth day of the 2024 PASA Pan American Surf Games, the champions of the Men’s Bodyboard category were awarded.

The 17th edition of the PASA Surf Games will be held from October 4 to 13 at the High Performance Surf Center in Punta Rocas, Lima, Peru, sponsored by Equans, Marca Perú, Floril, Generade and 360 Energy Drink, and with the support of the Peruvian Sports Institute, the National Surf Federation of Peru, Proyecto Legado and the Municipality of Punta Negra.

Early in the morning, the four athletes who qualified for the Men’s Bodyboard grand final faced each other to decide who would take home the respective medals at stake.

Silva from Chile needed only three waves to secure the Gold Medal, receiving 7.67 points for his first wave, the best of the entire final, which she complemented with another of 6.17 points, for a total of 13.84 points.

The silver medal went to Sócrates Santana from Brazil with a score of 12.33 points, the bronze to his compatriot Diego Gomes with a total of 9.46 points and the copper medal prize went to Edwin Núñez from Panama with a final score of 5.93.

Men’s Bodyboard Medalists

Once the Bodyboard champions were crowned, the competitions for the Women’s and Men’s Longboard categories began.

The best of the day in Women’s Longboard was the athlete Lia Díaz from Costa Rica, current Bronze Medalist of the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games, with a total score of 11.16 points.

In Men’s Longboard, the best was the multi-Pan American champion Benoit Clemente from Peru, with a total score of 18.50 points.

To close the day, the Final of the Women’s Bodyboard category was defined, which is now made up of Maylla Venturin and Maira Viana both from Brazil, Beatriz Arleo from Colombia and Luz Marie Grande from Puerto Rico.

The event continues tomorrow from 8:00 am Lima time, with the Women’s Bodyboard final, followed by round 1 of Women’s Shortboard, and the 1st round of Women’s and Men’s Longboard, closing the day with the 1st round of Women’s Shortboard.
