- Seven different discplines will take the waves of Punta Roquitas, in Lima, Peru
- Until today, 12 countries and more than 260 athletes have confirmed their participation
The Pan American Surf Association (PASA) is set to begin with the XII edition of the 2016 Claro Open Pan Americans in Lima, Peru. From october 10 to 16, surfers from all the Americas will reunite to compete and make historic desitions for our sport.
The athletes representing the countries from the Americas will compete in Surfing, Longboard, SUP Surfing, Bodyboard, Dropknee and SUP and Paddleboard Races.
Along with the competition, this will be a great opportunity for the heads of the National Surfing Federations of the Americas to come together and begin with the process of electing the form of qualification to the Pan American Games Lima 2019.
The confirmed nations until today are Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela.

Punta Roquitas
This break is located in the Miraflores district, in Lima, Peru. It’s a wave that breaks left and right, easy to access and ideal for any kind of surfer. Works better during low tides and on it’s best days it can reach from 6 to 8 feet wave heights (2 to 2.5 meters).
Surfing in the Olympics
The 2016 Claro Open Pan Americans is being made in an historic moment for the sport of Surfing, as it was recently acepted by the International Olympic Committee to be part of the Olympic Program for Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Lima 2019 Pan American Games, the biggest sports event of the Americas, will be the first Olympic event for the American Continent.
