Atalanta Batista and Benoit Clemente win Gold in Longboard at the PASG 2024

The Shortboard Category reaches its final stretch with Semifinals and Finals tomorrow on day 9 of the event

The 2024 Team PASA Pan American Champion will be crowned tomorrow

The XVII Pan American Surfing Games enter their final stretch after eight days of intense emotions on and off the powerful waves of Punta Rocas, in Lima, Peru. Athletes from 15 countries have given their best, proudly representing their flags, to reach this culminating point where the 2024 Pan American Team Champion will be known.

The Pan American Surfing Association deeply thanks Equans, Marca Perú, Floril, Generade and 360 Energy Drink, and the support of the Peruvian Sports Institute, the National Surfing Federation of Peru, Proyecto Legado and the Municipality of Punta Negra for making this great event possible.

On this eighth day, Atalanta Batista from Brazil and Benoit Clemente from Peru were awarded as the gold medalists and Pan American champions in the Women’s and Men’s Longboard categories.

This is the fourth Pan American title for Clemente (2017, 2018, 2023 and now 2024) and for Batista it is her first gold medal after several Pan American finals.

Atalanta Batista took home the Women’s Longboard Gold after obtaining a total score of 13.90 points. The silver medal was won by Jazmine Dean from Puerto Rico with a score of 9.73, the bronze went to Luana Soares from Brazil with 5.83 points and the copper went to Coral Bonilla from Mexico with 3.13 points.

In the Men’s Longboard final, Clemente scored a total score of 14.83, beating Julian Schweizer from Uruguay who scored 13.47 to take home the silver medal. The bronze medal went to Rafael Cortéz from Chile with 12.43 points and the copper medal went to Lucas Garrido-Lecca from Peru with 10.00 points.

On this day, the semifinals of the Men’s Shortboard categories were also defined after two intense rounds of competition.

The best of the day in Men’s Shortboard was Sebastián Williams from Mexico with a total score of 17.50 in his Round 2 Heat, and in Round 3 he managed to advance to the Semifinals.

Semifinal 1 was made up of Andrés Echecopar from Peru, Franco Radziunas from Argentina, Samuel Reidy from Costa Rica and Kai Gale from Panama and Semifinal 2 with Noel de la Torre from Chile, Maximiliano Saenz from Ecuador, Joaquín Muñoz from Argentina and Sebastián Williams from Mexico.

The event continues tomorrow from 9:00 am Peru time.
