Election was held today in the Azores Islands, Portugal, during the VISSLA ISA World Junior Surfing Championship 2016
Karin Sierralta, President of the Pan American Surf Association (PASA) has been re elected today as the Vice President of the International Surfing Association (ISA), world governing body of the sport of Surfing, recognized by the International Olympic Committee.
President Sierralta starts a third period as ISA Vice President and member of ISA’s Executive Committee, along with ISA President Fernando Aguerre.
The election was made during ISA’s Biennial General Meeting, held at on thursday september 22, in Sao Miguel of Azores, where the 2016 VISSLA ISA World Surfing Games is taking place with 39 nations, a new record of participating delegations, which 16 come from the Americas.
“Is an honor to be able to keep working as the Vice President of ISA”, said Sierralta from Sao Miguel Island. “This year has been full of good news, with the inclusion of Surfing in Tokyo 2020 Olympics and I’m glad to keep working next to Fernando Aguerre to develop Surfing globally and in the Americas”.
“Now we are ready to organize the process of qualification to Lima 2019, which with the collaboration of ISA we will establish globally, this is the reason why we are meeting from october 10 to 16 in Lima, Peru, for the Claro Open Pan Americans”.
Along with President Sierralta, also the multiple swimming world champion and Olympic medalist Kirstyn Coventry was elected.
